Frequently Asked Questions
WE DON’T LIVE IN MELBOURNE - CAN YOU GET HERE?
Yes! I live for a countryside vista, a destination wedding or the beauty of international romance!
I don’t charge for travel time under 2 hours from Melbourne CBD. Travel for more than 2 hours in a car will be charged at $100 per hour within Victoria, Australia and may incur accommodation costs.
For Australian interstate or international weddings: flights and accommodation will need to be arranged and paid by the client at time of booking. I have a sweet elderly dog (#loppalove) and I try to limit my travel time away from her – as such all travel expenses are at the cost of the client. Per dium/expenses can be negotiated.
ARE YOU ONLY PACKING ‘PACKAGES’ OR CAN WE MAKE A CUSTOM ARRANGEMENT?
AND ARE YOU NEGOTIABLE ON PRICE?
If you have a special request, or if you hold an Australian concession card, feel free to reach out to me here.
I can help you work out the perfect plan for your situation over a coffee and am a little flexible depending on what you’d like, however I have calculated my rates and packages based on the below industry standards which are fixed.
Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) standard award for freelance videographers:
-MEAA daily freelance rate is $1070
-MEAA freelancer standard hourly rate $257.
-Film scanning to digital is outsourced at an additional fee per roll of film (~$50 HD, 2K, 4K).
-16mm film stock is $100 per roll (3 mins per roll) and is added to the final bill; you can preset a cap on how much film you’d like to use. Two rolls minimum for small weddings.
Rule of thumb: The basic cost of an edited 10 minute film (film stock, film developing, film scanning, shooting, editing), clips for socials, digital film stills (film still editing and paper printing additional), and an archival framed 16mm film reel is $3000.
Unfortunately, I am not negotiable on these rates - as much as the best things in life are free - the quality, labour, care, and specialised nature of analogue filmmaking is rare and valued.
FILM IS EXPENSIVE THOUGH, RIGHT?
It is a small additional cost to buy film stock for analogue 16mm cameras, however it is worth the effort! The additional cost of film depends on the size of your wedding and how much coverage you want. I recommend 5 rolls (15 mins) of 16mm film for covering the essentials of a medium sized wedding, the bigger the wedding the more film required for coverage. A minimum of one roll of film is recommended for engagements and a minimum of two rolls for elopements or small weddings.
1 roll of film incurs approx $100 purchase of film stock + $50 developing + $50 scan to digital.
HELPFUL TO NOTE:
A 50% deposit confirms your booking.
Any film I do requires a minimum of two days workload + 16mm film and scanning. Basic cost of a 10 minute film, printed still images, clips for socials, and an archival framed film reel is $3000.
Discounts available for concession card holders, artists or musicians.
All packages are filmed on 16mm film stock, then scanned to digital for editing.
Analogue editing by hand (cutting and hand printing film) is very labour intensive and only available in the Heirloom Package or by special arrangement.
